How to replace your oven door seal in 4 easy steps

Your oven is one of the most used essentials in the kitchen. From time to time, it needs a little maintenance to ensure it is performing at its best. With a well-functioning oven, your food cooks evenly and the right temperature is maintained. If you find that your oven is taking a long time to heat up or that your food is cooking unevenly, it is worth checking your oven door seal.

A damaged seal means your oven uses more energy and your food won’t cook correctly. A worn or damaged oven door seal will need to be replaced. Don’t worry, replacing your oven door seal is a simple task and we can show you how to do it in 4 easy steps.

To replace your oven door seal, you will need:

• Replacement over door seal. You can buy yours here
• Screwdriver

Step 1

First step is to open the door and locate your seal. You will find that some seals are attached to the oven. Others are located on the door.

Step 2

In some instances, you can remove oven seals by gently peeling them off. Other door seals have small hooks or screws holding the seal in place. If attached with a hook, simply release each corner. If attached with screws, be sure to keep the screws safe after you remove them.

Step 3

After your seal is removed, simply clean the area with warm soapy water. Dry the area thoroughly.

Step 4

Now it is time to install your new oven door seal. Position the seal by lining up one of the corners. Work your way around and press down firmly to secure in place. Attach any clips and screws. Your oven is now ready for use.
