Being able to fill a glass with crushed ice and cool water at a press of a button is great for busy families or for entertaining guests. To ensure fresh, great tasting, clean water you will need to replace your fridge water regularly. Changing your water filter is easy and you can quickly do it yourself with our guide to changing your LG fridge water filter.

How do you know that its time to replace your fridge filter?
- Your LG fridge water filter should be replaced every 6 months (or sooner), depending on how often you use the water from your refrigerator. Some models have a filer change alert which indicates when it’s time to replace your filter.
- If the water flow is slower than normal, there may be a build up in the water filter. This could signal it is time for a change.
- There is an unpleasant odour or a funny taste.

Guide to changing your LG fridge water filters – LT1000P, LT800P (beside door)
If your water filter is located on the door follow these simple instructions:
Step 1: Remove the filter
Lift up and remove the lower door bin. Swing the right end of the water filter out of the compartment and then grasp and rotate the filter counter-clockwise to remove it from the filter head.
Step 2: Install the new LG fridge water filter
Remove new filter from packaging including the protective cover on the rubber o-rings. Insert your replacement filter into the filter head and rotate it clockwise until the arrow on the new filter lines up with the arrow on the filter head. Swing the filter back into the compartment.
Step 3: Remove trapped air
Put the lower door bin back to its original position. Dispense water to remove trapped air, loose charcoal and contaminants from the system. Depress and release the dispenser pad for cycles for 30 seconds on and 60 seconds off.
Step 4: Reset water filter indicator
Reset the water filter indicator light by holding down the water filter button next to it for about 3 seconds.
Guide to changing your LG filters – LT1000P, LT800P, LT700P (top interior)
Step 1: Remove top shelf
If your shelf is closely located to the water filter, you will need to remove it first. Just tilt up the front of the shelf and lift it. Gently slide the shelf out.
Step 2: Remove old filter
Open the water filter housing by pressing the push button. To remove the old filter, simply pull the filter downward and turn it in counter-clockwise direction. Discard old filter.
Step 3: Install the new water filter
Remove new filter from packaging including the protective cover on the rubber o-rings. With the filter tabs in the horizontal position, you can now install the new filter. Place the filter in the filter mount and turn in a clockwise direction until it locks into place. Close the cover firmly.
Step 4: Remove trapped air
Dispense water to remove trapped air, loose charcoal and contaminants from the system. Depress and release the dispenser pad for cycles for 30 seconds on and 60 seconds off.
Step 5: Reset water filter indicator
Reset the water filter indicator light by holding down the water filter button next to it for about 3 seconds.
Guide to changing your LG filters – LT600P, LT500P
Step 1: Water supply
Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.
Step 2: Empty tub
Dispense water from the system to empty the tubing (approx. 60 seconds).
Step 3: Remove the old filter
Rotate the know of the cartridge counter clockwise. When the cartridge is removed it will then click out of place. Pull out the cartridge.
Step 4: Install new filter
With the cartridge knob in the vertical position, push the new filter cartridge into the cover until it stops.
Step 5: Dispense water
Dispense water to remove trapped air, loose charcoal and contaminants from the system. Depress and release the dispenser pad for cycles for 30 seconds on and 60 seconds off.
Step 6: Reset the water filter indicator
Reset the water filter indicator light by holding down the water filter button next to it for about 3 seconds.
Guide to changing your LG fridge water filters – LT900P (3 stage filters)
Step 1: Remove the filter cover
The filter is mounted on the left side of the fresh zone in the refrigerator. First, remove the fresh zone drawer. Push, then pull out the bottom side of the filter cover to remove it.
Step 2: Remove old filter
Turn the handle on the filter you wish to replace to the left by 90 degrees. Pull forward on the handle to remove.
Handy tip! Some water may leak during this process, so have a towel handy just in case.
Step 3: Install the new water filter
Remove new filter from packaging. Hold the filter handle vertically and insert the replacement filter completely. Turn the handle to the right 90 degrees.
Step 4: Remove trapped air
Dispense water to remove trapped air, loose charcoal and contaminants from the system.
Step 5: Reset water filter indicator
Reset the water filter indicator light by holding down the water filter button next to it for about 3 seconds.
